Privacy policy
Sums Together is made by Mert, an independent developer. This policy explains what the app stores, why, who helps process it and how you can remove it. The short version: the app keeps only what it needs to show your expenses and balances, it has no ads, no tracking and no analytics, and you can delete your account inside the app.
What the app stores
Your account
- Your sign-in: the email address you use for an email link, or the identifier Apple gives the app when you sign in with Apple (and the email address Apple shares, which may be a private relay address).
- The display name you choose, which other members of your groups see.
What you enter
- Groups: name, optional description, currency and members.
- Shared expenses and payments: description, amount, currency, date, category, optional note, who paid and how it is split, and recurring expenses.
- Personal spending: personal expenses, recurring personal expenses and your budget settings.
- Payment reminders: who sent a reminder to whom, in which group and when, so the daily reminder limit can be applied.
Your device
- If you allow notifications: a push notification token for your device and your preferred language, so notifications reach you in the right language.
- Settings such as theme, language and start screen are kept on your device only.
The app does not access your contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone, and does not use advertising identifiers.
Why it is used
Only to run the app: to sign you in, show and sync your data across your devices, share group entries with the members of that group, calculate balances and send the notifications you expect (a new expense in your group, a payment reminder). Nothing is sold, used for advertising or used to build a profile of you.
Who can see it
- Members of a group see that group's name, members' display names and the group's expenses and payments. A payment reminder is delivered only to the person it is for.
- Your personal spending and budgets are visible only to you.
Service providers
- Supabase hosts the database and sign-in. Data is stored on Supabase's servers in the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications.
- Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev) provides daily exchange rates. The app asks it for the rates of a currency; the request contains no account data, but like any web request it reveals your IP address to that service.
Because these services may process data outside your country, transfers rely on the providers' own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long it is kept
Your data is kept while your account is open. Delete individual expenses, payments or groups at any time in the app.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Account, then Delete account. This:
- deletes your display name, invitations, notification tokens, personal expenses, recurring personal expenses and budget settings;
- keeps the shared expenses and payments of your groups, because the other members still need them to see correct balances. Your name in those groups is replaced with "Deleted member". The record of payment reminders in those groups is kept with them.
Your sign-in identity (email address or Apple identifier) is shared with other apps by the same developer that use the same sign-in, so it is not removed when you delete your Sums Together account. To have it removed completely, write to the address below.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), you can ask for a copy of your data, its correction or its deletion, and you can object to its use or complain to your data protection authority. Write to the address below and you will get an answer within 30 days.
Children
Sums Together is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Important changes will also be announced in the app.
